Because of the Olympics there are major regeneration plans for Hackney. It’s former mills and plastics factories now house over 600 creative industry workspaces where architects, photographers, digital artists and designers work side by side. Around this highly entrepreneurial community is a growing café, arts and leisure culture scene, with galleries, festivals, pop-ups and restaurants, like Stour Space.
Multi-million-pound plans to improve the Overground will transform the area around the station and make it a fitting hub for a destination that will offer business space, restaurants, new homes, cafés, shops and parklands. Since the games new parkland and whole new neighbourhoods are being created.
The serene river and ghost town of factory buildings, walls and gates, are brought to life with eclectic artwork, and create intrigue on a still Saturday afternoon.
